Privacy Policy

In short
- Camthis is run by Carmack AB in Stockholm, Sweden.
- We store your account details, the events you create and the video you record, so that we can stream, record and share them for you.
- Recordings are stored with Amazon Web Services in Stockholm (eu-north-1).
- Moments and highlights you publish can be watched by anyone who has the link.
- You can ask us at any time to see, correct or delete your data. Write to info@camthis.live.
1. Who we are
Camthis is a service for streaming and recording events with several phone cameras at once. It consists of the Camthis iOS app, the web app at go.camthis.live and this website, camthis.live.
The data controller for Camthis is:
Carmack ABc/o Knackeriet, S:t Paulsgatan 25
118 48 Stockholm, Sweden
info@camthis.live
2. Whose data this covers
- Account holders - people who sign in to the app or the web app to create events, film or produce a stream ("organisers" and "camera operators").
- Viewers - people who watch a stream, a moment or a highlight on go.camthis.live. Viewers do not need an account.
- People who appear in recordings - participants, audience and others who are filmed at an event. See section 6.
- Visitors to this website.
3. What we collect and why
Your account
When you sign up we store your email address and, if you give them, your name and profile details. You sign in with Sign in with Apple or with email and password. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Supabase. If you use Sign in with Apple, Apple may share a private relay email address with us instead of your real one. We also log basic sign-in information, such as when you last signed in, how many times, the IP address and the type of device used. We use this to run your account and keep it secure.
Events you create
An event has a title, an optional description and image, the organisation it belongs to and the cameras and rooms connected to it. When you create an event in the app, we ask for your approximate location and store it with the event. We use this to run the service and show you your events.
Video and audio
When you film with the app, video and sound from your phone's camera and microphone are sent live through our streaming provider, LiveKit, and recorded. Recordings are stored with Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Stockholm. We use them to show the live stream, and to let you and your organisation create highlights and multi-angle moments afterwards. We also store technical information about each camera, such as a device identifier and recording timestamps, so that the different angles can be lined up.
Moments and highlights you publish
When you choose to share a moment or highlight, we copy it to a separate public storage area so it can be played at a link on go.camthis.live. The link contains a long random code that cannot be guessed, but anyone who has the link can watch it, and they can pass it on. Nothing is published unless someone with access to the event chooses to publish it.
Viewers
To deliver a live stream to your browser, our streaming and hosting providers process technical data such as your IP address and browser details. Viewers are not asked to sign in.
This website
On camthis.live we use two analytics tools to understand how the site is used: Simple Analytics, which does not use cookies, and Mixpanel, which records page views and clicks and can record sessions on the site. Mixpanel data is sent to Mixpanel's EU data centre. These tools are used on the marketing website only, not in the app or on go.camthis.live.
When you contact us
If you email us, we keep the correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with your question.
What we do not do
- We do not sell personal data.
- We do not use your recordings for advertising.
- Camthis does not currently take payments, so we hold no payment card details.
4. Legal basis
- Contract - to provide your account, your events, streams and recordings.
- Legitimate interest - to keep the service secure, fix faults, and understand how the website is used.
- Legal obligation - when we must keep or hand over data by law, for example accounting records.
For people who are filmed at an event, the organiser decides what is recorded and why, and is responsible for having a legal basis for it. See section 6.
5. Who we share data with
Organisers of events you record at. If you join someone else's event, for example with its QR code or code, and record there, your recordings from that event, your name and the time you recorded are shared with that event's organiser and the members of the organiser's organisation. This follows from our Terms of Use, which you accept when you sign in. Other people recording at the same event do not see your recordings.
We use the following providers to run Camthis. They process data on our behalf and only for that purpose.
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Amazon Web Services | Storage of recordings, video processing, published moments and highlights | Stockholm, Sweden (eu-north-1) |
| Contabo | Server for our API and database (accounts, events, recording metadata) | EU |
| Supabase | Sign-in and authentication | EU |
| LiveKit | Live video streaming between cameras, producers and viewers | Server closest to the participants; see note below |
| Vercel | Hosting of go.camthis.live and camthis.live | EU |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, app distribution | See note below |
| Mixpanel, Simple Analytics | Website analytics (camthis.live only) | EU data storage |
LiveKit routes live audio and video through the server closest to the people taking part in a stream, and does not store the media. Recordings are written to our own AWS storage in Stockholm. Data about our LiveKit project may be processed outside the EU under LiveKit's data processing agreement, which includes the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Some providers, such as Apple, are based in the United States. When personal data leaves the EU/EEA, it is protected by the EU Commission's standard contractual clauses or the EU-US Data Privacy Framework.
Inside an organisation, other members of the same organisation can see the events and recordings that belong to it. We may also disclose data to authorities when the law requires it.
6. People who appear in recordings
Camthis records events, so recordings can show identifiable people, including children. The organiser of an event decides to film it and is responsible for informing participants and, where required, obtaining their consent (or a guardian's consent for a child). Camthis does not currently collect or store consent on the organiser's behalf.
If you appear in a recording and want it removed, contact the organiser of the event or write to us at info@camthis.live. Tell us the event, and if possible the link to the moment or highlight. Requests are handled manually: we will look into it, involve the organiser where needed, and tell you what we removed. Please note that we cannot recall copies that someone has already downloaded or shared elsewhere.
7. How long we keep data
- Account data is kept while your account exists. You can request deletion in the app (Profile, Manage account, Request account removal). We then delete your account and its content within 30 days. Deletion is done by hand, and we may keep recordings that also belong to another organisation's event if that organisation still needs them, after checking with you.
- Recordings are kept until the organiser or account holder asks us to delete them, or the account is deleted. We do not currently delete recordings automatically after a fixed period.
- Published moments and highlights stay available at their link until they are removed. Hiding a moment in the app stops its page from showing; to have the files themselves deleted, contact us.
- Website analytics are kept according to the providers' own retention settings.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to:
- get a copy of the personal data we hold about you,
- have incorrect data corrected,
- have your data deleted,
- restrict or object to how we use your data,
- receive data you gave us in a machine-readable format.
To use any of these rights, write to info@camthis.live. We answer within one month. If you think we handle your data wrongly, you can complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, IMY), www.imy.se.
9. Security
Data is sent over encrypted connections. Access to recordings and the database is limited to the people at Carmack AB who need it to run the service. No system is completely secure, and we will tell affected users and IMY about a data breach when the law requires it.
10. Children
Camthis accounts are meant for organisers and camera operators, not for children. Children may appear in recordings of events; section 6 describes how that is handled.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when Camthis changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change matters for how we use your data, we will tell account holders in the app or by email.
12. Contact
